Generally speaking, yes. The welding tools used to fuse the jewelry do not come in contact with the skin. Gildsmith & Co. uses leather straps as an extra layer of protection between the weld and the skin.
Gildsmith & Co. uses high quality 14k gold filled and sterling silver jewelry.
14k gold filled jewelry is a jewelry composed of a solid layer of 14k gold that is mechanically bonded to a base layer of brass or sliver. To be considered gold filled, the gold layer must constitute at least 5% of the items weight. Gold filled jewelry tends to be more durable than solid gold jewelry, and its shine tends to last longer.
Gold filled is a higher quality than gold plated. In gold filled, the gold layer must constitute at least 5% of the item's weight. In most gold plated jewelry, the gold only constitutes 0.05% of the item's overall weight.
Yes. Our jewelry is non-magnetic and is therefore TSA-safe.
You should contact your healthcare team and alert them to the presence of any metal items in or on your body, including permanent jewelry.
You can easily remove a piece of permanent jewelry with scissors or nail clippers. But don't throw away your chain! The piece can be rewelded for the wearer in the future.
